Casting Release Agent

Casting release agent is a functional substance that acts between the mold and the finished product. It possesses chemical resistance and remains undissolved when in contact with the chemical components of various resins (particularly styrene and amines). Casting release agents also exhibit heat and stress resistance, making them less prone to decomposition or wear. They adhere to the mold without transferring to the processed part, thereby not interfering with painting or other secondary processing operations. Due to the rapid development of processes such as injection molding, extrusion, calendering, compression molding, and lamination, the usage of casting release agents has significantly increased.

Casting release agents are divided into two types: external casting release agents and internal casting release agents. To facilitate the easy removal of products from the mold during molding processing, a coating applied to the mold surface is referred to as an external casting release agent. An ideal casting release agent should have good thermal and chemical stability, not corrode the mold, leave no decomposition residues on the mold surface, provide the product with a good appearance, and not affect the product's color, adhesion, or paintability. It should also minimize mold cleaning time, be non-toxic, safe, easy to operate, and cost-effective. This technology provides a casting release agent and its applications.

This casting release agent is primarily used for demolding polyurethane products after casting during production, offering excellent release effects for most polyurethane moldings. Its characteristics include using water as the dispersion phase, forming a water-soluble substance that not only enables the demolding of polyurethane foam but is also biodegradable, producing no harmful substances such as VOCs, making it highly environmentally friendly. Moreover, water serves as a diluent, which is non-polluting, readily available, and low-cost.

Performance characteristics of casting release agent:

Casting release agent is resistant to acids, alkalis, and hard water, highly water-soluble, and has stable emulsion. It can be diluted with water in any proportion without layering, breaking emulsion, or clumping. It has a long shelf life, high solid content, and excellent dispersibility. It is applied in demolding for industries such as aluminum molds, steel molds, wooden molds, silicone molds, glass, ceramic molds, plastic molds, rubber, metal, and plastics. The casting release agent can give the demolded products a smooth, wear-resistant, and anti-adhesive surface feel.

Main functions:

1. Reduce contact area: Forms a coating between the mold and the product, reducing the contact area between them, thereby preventing adhesion.

2. Improve separation: Enhances the separation between the mold and the product, reducing the likelihood of material residue on the mold, ensuring product quality and production efficiency.
